Noisy PS pump

Noisy PS pump
Hi guys,
Well, this morning I started my car after work and my PS pump started to growl at me. I popped open the hood, level ok and fluid was flowing. The pump is new, replaced march 09. Now a few side notes, fluid is brown, (partial change when I replaced it), temp was -8 outside. I know I will flush system, but would very low temps cause this, and has this happened to any of you east coast guys?
thanks,
Jason

btw: i had a POS mazda tribute (just a ford) at work the other day, that had actually popped off one of the p/s coolers lines, because it was so damn cold (-12 by the my dash gauge [going to work] at like 7:20 in the mourning), and the fluid was so thick, that it was easier for the line to just pop off then to try and flow through the cooler and the rest of the line
amazeingly the pump itself was fine, guess enough fluid stay in the pump itself to stay lubricated (it did pump the system dry)
i reconnected the line with a new hose clamp, refilled it, and it has no problems, just like new, but still a ford

oops sorry OP didnt know you didnt have a 3G....but the O-ring was posing a problem due temp and i thought it could be it....but well if you car is not under warranty you might wanna start by checking the o-ring (cheapest fix if it is the problem).....
