New transmission break in
New transmission break in
Sorry for yet another tranny thread.
And sorry again if this is a repost, I vaguely recall this being answered before, but can't find it on the FAQ or otherwise.
Just got a fresh tranny installed - is there a "break in" period? If so, how long do you think?
I granny drove it home, but being the type of driver I am it's only a matter of time before I go WOT sometime.

Yes there is a break in. They have new internals and need to be broken in. Take it easy for the first 500 or so miles
What do you think rebuilt is? all old worn parts? Just because its not "new" doesnt mean the inside parts arent. There are ALOT of internal parts (namely the clutchpacks) that need time to break in

Anyway, OT.

Anyway, OT.
When I went to pick up my car after the transmission replacement, I floored it as soon as I got on the highway to make sure there wasn't a power loss, and the shift points weren't lowered any more than before.
Then I told myself, "cool, now I'll take it easy and break it in."
By that weekend, I was already out racing.
