Sorry for yet another tranny thread.

And sorry again if this is a repost, I vaguely recall this being answered before, but can't find it on the FAQ or otherwise.

Just got a fresh tranny installed - is there a "break in" period? If so, how long do you think?

I granny drove it home, but being the type of driver I am it's only a matter of time before I go WOT sometime.

I wasn't aware there was a break in for the transmission? I know I didn't drive my car like a granny when the transmission was replaced. They're not "new", just refurbished.

Yes there is a break in. They have new internals and need to be broken in. Take it easy for the first 500 or so miles

What do you think rebuilt is? all old worn parts? Just because its not "new" doesnt mean the inside parts arent. There are ALOT of internal parts (namely the clutchpacks) that need time to break in

Judging by the short time some replacements have been known to last...

I learn something every day.

I tried to break mine in, but after around 100 miles, I wanted to make sure that my TL was faster than the TSX loaner I fell in love with. Lets just say, it was worth the risk

What TL isn't faster than a TSX? My TL was faster than the TSX loaner when it was sitting in the service bay without a transmission.

The TSX just isn't worth the money. The new Civic SI embarrasses it.

Anyway, OT.

The TSX used to be worth the money before the civic si came out. but the civic si is putting all those inexpensive cars to shame. They may have made it TOO good. That civic si puts the rsx-s to shame.

When I went to pick up my car after the transmission replacement, I floored it as soon as I got on the highway to make sure there wasn't a power loss, and the shift points weren't lowered any more than before.

Then I told myself, "cool, now I'll take it easy and break it in."

By that weekend, I was already out racing.
