new trans

well my trans finally crapped out at 56m miles on it, got me stuck out in the middle of now were. got it towed for 245.00 back to my house and then trailered it back to acura of las vegas. im glad to tell you i did not have to pay for it, the trans that is. I got out of the dealer paying ownly 729.00 because of brakes, brake fluid flush, machine rotors, new motor mounts. Its a lot of money, but shit that needed to be done. Im asking if anyone who has gotten a new trans if they felt that the trans felt tight, or is just my imagination? Thanks, Sport Climber

Me Too

My new transmission felt tight or stiff after I picked it up from the dealer. I babied it for a few hundred miles and eventually it loosened up. Shifting was harder for a while. It was probably the new parts getting fully lubricated and broken in. After a couple of thousand miles, the transmission is still tighter that my old one before it crapped out but I don't consider it abnormal.

My trans failed @ 92k. Dealer replaced it for free and got it yesterday!

So far, I dont find any difference. Service advisor asked to me drive gently(not to cruise and vary the speeds) for the next 1500 miles.

btw, they did the 90K orange service(for whcih i paid ofcourse) apart from the trans replacement

3k?

in canada, i got a 4spd, used that was 20k, for 1500 total...

i would go for a used cause

1. new tranny design still got no positives
2. half the price for a used, its all just a guessing game.

I am on my 3rd Transmission

I have a 2001 TL w 85,000 miles on it. Including the original transmission, this is my 3rd one that have had installed. The Avura dealer extended my warranty to 100,000 miles but I guess I'll have to get rid of the car before the warranty expires. It's a shame. Every other Honda product I have had has been absolutely bullet proof.
