Exclamation New recall on 02-03 tl??

Just got a recall in the mail yesterday, has anyone else gotten one? This is what it said......
What is thr reason for this notice?
Acura has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2002-2003 model year TL vehicles that have had the original fatory-installed driver's front airbag module replaced. In some vehicles, the replacement driver's airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure. If an affected airbag deploys, the incressed internal pressure may cuse the infaltor to rupture. Metal fragments could pass throught the airbag cushion material possably causing injury or death to vehicle occupants.

The letter goes onto said to call your nearest dealer to make a FREE appointment to have your car checked out. I have an appointment today in the afternoon. Little freaked out by this sence my SRS light is on and every once and a while the passager side airbag light will come on too. Just bought my 02 TL type-S at the end of FEB. Had been driving a 99 TL with 260K on it, never got a recall on that car.

Has anyone gotten this letter yet????

There is a main post/already on this on the main 2G TL forum.
That is where people are discussing this.

ok you have 2 problems
SRS light on--was any electrical work at all done on the car recently?
last owner yank out anything?
If so see DIY section for reset SRS light
if it comes back on- take to dealer for special 10/150 SRS warranty

If no work on the electrics- take to dealer--you have no airbags when red light On

pass side bag light sometimes on- when you place anything in the seat, or buddy leaned against door glass or seat layed waaaaaaay back?
all those trigger the side bag Off system to protect the passenger from injury

Ok so I took the car in to the dealership. They said my car is all set, all recalls have been fixed on my car. Then the guys goes on to say "yes your SRS light is on, for $150 well will check it out for you and turn it off." WHAT?? Ya Im good with that Im going to try to turn it off my self.

do the reset procedure found in the DIY list, if it comes back on there is a real problem Was I not clear about this in my last post?

was it a service WRITER told you that all were done?
call acura 1 800 382 2238 x5, register as owner and ask about the airbag recall
ask if ANY OPEN RECALLS and what extended warranty applies to the car,,
example the special SRS 10/150,, or seatbelt retractors etc

thats exactly why the new owner needs to register with acura 1 800 382 2238x5
If you have not- please do that now! usa number above

canuks 1 888 9acura9

so they have current address for recall notices,,Who would have thought so many years later they need that info...but recalls are timeless,, and free!!
