type s bad steering problem help plz.

03 type s.

hi my name is marv. i just bought this car and the guy told me the powersteering pump is bad....but im a little scared because its makin a very bad loud noise everytime i turn the wheel either way right or left. and the steering wheel is hard, it makes a whine and like growling clunk noise...if u open the hood it mostly comes from the power steering pump...but it also makes noise around the driver side around the tranny,,,,,can u guys plz tell me if this is as bad as it sounds? or just an easy ps pump replacement????


im new to acura tl's, i went from a gsr hatch to this. thanks for ur help in advance!

start with a ps pump for sure, and new belt and tensioner are likely needed too
do a full ps fluid flush with the new pump
get a $5 mechanics stethascope to pinpoint noises

PS Pump replacement is very easy. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to remove. Just make sure you don't over tighten the new pump. It's better to be too loose rather than too tight. (Though not everything works like that)

I can give a more detailed explanation when you get a new pump.
