New Gauge Cluster
New Gauge Cluster
So my stock gauge cluster was starting to go. When I would shut the car off the needles would not go down all the way. I looked on ebay and found a used gauge cluster from a TL-S (mine is a TL-P). I prefer the white gauges over the black so I went with this one.
I installed the new gauge cluster, all the harness lined up correctly. When I turned on the car the Check Engine light was on and the VSA. I know the TL-P does not have VSA so I am not worried about that. I just wanted to see if you guys knew why the Check Engine light was on. I still haven't taken it to Autozone because I didnt think it was a big deal since the Check engine light was not on when I still had the stock gauge cluster in.
Any ideas why these lights came on?

Edit: It is not the Check Engine light it is the Mant. Req. light.

OR
On the back of the cluster you will see 2 or 3 little tabs in the center where each gauge is. Pend the up and the whole needle and face assembly will come out as one. Then plug that into your original cluster and see if that makes a difference (as there is some difference in wiring) Also unplug the VSA bulb

Cool I'm going to go try that now. Ill see what happens when I switch out the old one. Is it possilbe I can keep the white face but put my stock needle and gauge in the new cluster?

Thats what you are doing. You remove the clear shield and black bezel, then on the back side you remove the gauge face and needle all in 1 assembly. DONT pull off the needle. The whole thing will come out and you can reassemble it into yours after removing the original assembly. That way you get to keep your original mileage as well.
