Need some help to buy Rotors, Ball Joints.

I was getting my TL fixed and they told me my rotors were warped. They recommended for me to get those drilled rotors to replace them. Also they said my ball joints were dead on both sides.

Told me I could shop around online for better deals for the parts.

Can anyone recommend me some places to buy the correct ones? Where do you guys get yours? Thanks.

The car is still smooth and quiet right now so I figure I have maybe 2 months until I really need to get it fixed pronto so I have some time to collect parts right now.

I'll be needing:

Disc rotors for the front (x2) drilled rotors a good idea?

Lower ball joint (x2)

Upper ball joint (x2)

inner tie rod

outer tie rod

Axle - passenger's side.

Thanks for the link there too.

no need for cross drilled rotors unless you live in the mountains or autocross race the car
For the average normal driver- the brembo flat face `blanks` will do well for you
Pads from Rotora work good with them, Josh/Excelerate is the man for those- send a PM

If you want brakes to go with the other performance parts you have, MrHeelToe has RacingBrake brand and Excelerate has Rotora
Both carry Stoptech which is a good midrange alternative

Click OFF TOPIC link at top right corner of every page, then Sponsored Sales- for threads of all the approved azine sponsoring vendors- they are trusted,, and pay to make acurazine happen for us
Brakes- suspension- other goodies

kris- whats the dealer link for discount on ball joints? or should he go aftermarket

The car just hit 150k on the odo.

It's dropped 1.75" front, 1.5" rear. Tokico HP shocks and H&R sport springs.

I just bought the car over the summer with 130k for cheap. It was 100% stock. I like the car so I will most likely drive it until the tranny slips or a nice Lexus GS400 deal comes along the way.

I need new upper ball joints - the dealership said " buy the entire control arm, the upper ball joints are not meant to be removed - they will just fail again". Sounds like a line of B.S to me. 01tl4tl - what is your opinion on that ?

If I remember correctly you're in Canada right dude? Try this site out.
I've used them twice before, once when buying my new brake setup and another when I bought my new sway bar and end links.

Premier Performance Parts Canada

I bought EBC 3GD sport rotors and Hawk HPS pads for all for corners, with tax and shipping came to 600 bucks total. I've had them for a year and I love them, much better braking force than stock and no signs of warping issues. On my road trip through BC they performed amazingly in the twists and turns.

I would say go with EBC rotors, the slotted ones are apparently a great option as are mine. They make amazing pads as well (green or red stuff). Hawk pads are highly recommended as well so check out what options they have that would work best for your application.

If you give them a call, they may be able to suggest a number of options for the other suspension parts that you're looking for.

All the best finding what you need

^ word with EBC, i have dimpled and slotted rotors and red stuff pads. crazy stopping power, resistance to fade is excellent with red stuff pads, and zero warppage.

its best to replace the entire control arm--
one bushing fails the other one follows--so do you want to pay labor twice

got to bite the bullet on this one and get the part--try whatever your national parts chain is, dont need oe for this

Going have to change out both my upper control arm this weekend

So when i went to my local auto parts store the price very different at one major store. NAPA has Ultra8/Altrom upper control arm they are $80 each an
Autozone, O'Reilly an Advance wanted $120 for each.

I was wondering if anyone try Napa brand upper control arm on our 2gen TL?

I also need to change my upper control arm next week passenger side. Does it make sense to do the driver side as well, even though it's fine ? I found KARLYN CONTROL ARM at partsgeek.com for $78.94 ( with ball joint and bushings ) . Is Karlyn a decent brand - or is there something better out there ?

i got upper control arms and ball joints from Autopart International. about 100 a piece i think, they look pretty good and are doing the job. i have also got sway bar links from them and they are very good, hold up just fine with my 24mm rear sway bar. they are local to the northeast a few other locations.
