multiple cyclinder OBD codes and TCS light

Hey everyone,

i haven't posted in a couple years (since my tranny went out) and my TL has been running smoothly until 2day. I went to start it this afternoon and she was shaking and the check engine light was blinking and the TCS light came on. She's missing so I pulled the codes and got p302 p304 p305 and the one that says multi cylinder misfires. Kind of weirs that so many different cylinders at one time are missing? U changed the plugs about 6 months ago so they should be good? I don't think that all of these coils would go bad at once? It must be something else? Any ideas???? Thanks!!!

possible bad coil pack or 2, or a bad O2 causing it to throw those. I would start with teh coil packs. Work 1 at a time and see if it goes away

Thanks for the reply. But it's throwing codes on 4 different cylinders and it started all at the same time. I think it's unlikely to be a coil problem. If I pulled a miss code on only one cylinder I would swap the coil pack to another cylinder and see if it follows. I'm thinking it must be a vacum leak or an EGR problem or something. She did not throw a vacum or EGR code, but something is making her miss on multiple cyclinders and it's odd that the plugs, wires, or coil would go on 4 cylinders at the same time? Don't you think? She was running great right up to the point of the misfire today. Do you think if it was an 02 sensor or EGR problem it would make it miss on multiple cylinders and not throw a code for any sensors? I do know frome xperience that vacum leaks will make a car miss but I couldn't see any leaks. The plugs and wires also look fine. I'm at a loss.

One more thing, Is it normal for the TCS light to come on when you get a msifire code with a blining CEL?

it was a bad coil

I bought a coil and started swapping it around. Even though I was getting cylinder misfires on 4 different cylinders, it was only one coil that was bad. Only took me 2 tries. All is good now.....

Good deal. Thats why i said to start 1 at a time. Very often our cars show multiple codes when its just 1

firing order and cylinder numbers...

By the way, the cylinder numbers and firing order follow:

By looking into the engine while standing in fron of the car

firewall
123
456
grille/radiator

firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6

You can buy A coil pack for around 40 bucks and start going 1 by one on the ones that are reading the misfire

EXACT same thing happened to me today right after I got done showing a house. Car shakes a little, TCS light stays on and engine light blinks. I freaked out. But I feel better now I'll try to get the codes checked tomorrow and let you all know what happens.

I fuckin love this forum. It cost me less than $60 to get it fixed!! Thanx to this site.
I had 7 codes(1,4 and 6 were misfiring supposedly) I bought one coil and was gonna try all of them until I get to the right one. The first one I tried(6) was IT! I erased the codes and tried agian and now I have "0" codes.
If I didn't come here first I would've gotten rapped at some mechanic shop.

Not yet, my mechanic suggested I go back to the dealer since they were the last ones to touch it before that prob. Funny thing is they "claimed" to inspect it & told me it was the egr valves bein' clogged and to adjust my valves! So they want 500 from me! Hell no! My friend's gonna check the coil packs resistance next week to see if thats the prob. If it's not that, I'll have him re gap the plugs and hopefully that'll fix it. I've heard people sayin' egr cleaning is warrantied til 100k. Is it true cuz i have 70k on my 03.

My friend tested the resistance and we got 19.1 on all the coil packs except 1 which read 17.4! I'm goin' to change that one tommorrow and let you know what happens. It was hard because the cel light would be off most of the time.... i guess i thought the car would "magically" fix itself!

Its for the 99s only and its for the Ignition switch.

Like i stated before it could also be a bad O2 causing it as well. (as this has ben the problem for a few here in the past)

I called the dealer and they told me pull the coil out and check for infinate ohms on a multi-meter... after I saw how easy it was to clean the egr valves I did that before buying a coilpack. Can runs a lot smoother so i will see if that fixes the problem!

$42.74 on this site http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...p/mws/home.jsp
it would be about $52 after shipping and everything. $80 is too high just call another dealer near you it shouldnt cost you more than $60 after tax from a dealer.
