Need Help. Window Stuck in Down Position.

So I recently had a problem with my rear driver's side window. It has no problems rolling down, but sometimes when I try to roll it up, it would not budge. Maybe after a few tries it might actually close up. But now it is completely stuck in the down position. I took apart the door panel and pulled off the weather plastic. And I can't even pull up on the window manually. It's totally stuck. I've held the window switch up and try pulling the window and it still doesn't move.

Shouldn't I be able to freely move the window up? And since I can't even pull the window up manually, I won't even be able to unscrew the window from the window regulator if that's even the actual problem.

Unfortunately, you cannot move any power window freely that is connected to the regulator and motor. You have a few things that may cause your issue. If the window was going down but not up, your motor is probably functional, but may be too weak to roll it up (weight of the window too much). Your regulator may be binding (usually if they go out, the window falls into the door and then can be moved freely, usually). For a temporoary fix, you will need to remove the window from the regulator, push it to the top, and while someone holds it for you, re-attach it to the regulator. If you are not familiar with these things, I would recommend you Youtube some vids about it to make yourself more familiar. You also may have an electrical issue, but if the front and the rear switch will not roll it up, probably not. Good luck...

If both the front master and rear switch won't activate the rear window's motor, check fuse #7 (20A).
If it's good, try removing the rear inner door panel and get a closer look at what may be wrong.

As Groovemaster previously mentioned, chances are that either the motor or regulator is the problem.
You could try jumpering the motor with power to bypass the switch.
Check the wiring connections and lube the window channel mechanisms.

You can use a 12V Dewalt or other battery on the motor after you pull the factory connector off. I used to do that all the time back in the day to test oddball things in vehicles. You can also run a pair of speaker cables off of your battery (fused of course) to get a direct 12V feed to the motor. That will let you know if your motor is shot...

Well I didn't have enough time and had to bring it in to a mechanic. They tested the power to the motor and said that was the culprit. They're just going to replace both the regulator and motor.

I watched this video:

I think I would have done it myself but the window was stuck all the way down. So I don't think I could have unbolted the window first from the motor. Would I have been able to move to the window to the holes that unbolt the window?

But also I'm worried that I have extra wire's because I do have an aftermarket alarm with auto-roll up windows. Not sure where those were connected to.

Looks fairly simple to do. I notice that one of my other windows rolls up a bit slower now than what it used to. Could this be a sign of another dying motor?

Thanks for posting the video for those who have a similar issue and wanna "DIY". It really helps break things down to better understand the process.

With over 10 years of use ...... it's very possible that your other window's motor is getting lazy. Try lubing the tracks and mechanisms.
