Need advice

Morning. I have been reading some posts about the transmission, and frankly I just dont know what alot of the terms means. Here is my issue. While driving on the highway, about 65 mph, the car suddenly jerked so forcefully that I thought I had just been rear ended. It has done this twice now in two days at this speed. It has also jerked but thankfully not that forceful at 20, 30 mph and also while I am starting to drive from a complete stop. It is very scary to be driving that fast on the highway and feel like I have just been in an accident. Not to mention I have a small child in the backseat. If I feel like I'm about to get whiplash, how does he feel? Someone mentioned an engine coil problem, but I had heard something about a recall on TL transmissions. So, anyone know whats going on with my car? I'm too scared to drive it, but will eventually as I will need diapers and such in few days. Please, can someone help?

Sounds like your having trans issues. Bring it to the dealer and explain this to them. What year and how many miles do you have on the TL

Thats probably trans as others said
Ask for a loaner car and tell them you need to carry a baby seat
so they hook you up with a good loaner

Oh - forgot
the dealer will tell you they have to diagnose at $150 something
dont worry, that is included in the warranty repacement of trans- you dont pay it
By the way- its an extended warranty to 7 years 109k miles
NOT a recall- totally different things

Thanks everyone. I have an appt tomorrow morning. The mechanic said either the transmission or the motor mount. Lets hope its the transmission so I dont have to pay for anything!!!LOL. I drove the car around today and of course it didnt jerk or act funny at all. I'm wondering though, can they still figure out the problem if the car doesnt jerk for the mechanic and the check engine light hasnt come on? I'd hate to have to drive an over an hour away for them to tell me they dont know what the problem is...

If its not acting up or throwing a code, unfortunately they wont do any thing.

Update:
I brought the car in this morning after a very scary hour and half ride. The car jerked so forcefully I hurt my neck a little. Then as I was getting on the highway on - ramp, the car was in D5 and did not want to go. I had my foot on the pedal practically down to the floor, tachometer over 3000 and the car wouldnt go. It was quite a ride. Anyway, the mechanic test drove it and whether or not the car jerked for him I do not know. But he came back in and said "Um yeah, you need a new transmission" So they gave me a loaner and my car should be ready in 5 days. Thankfully, everything is covered under that extended warranty. Not a cent out of my pocket, except the 45 dollars in gas to get down to Austin!! Thanks for your advice!
