the thud i had was the engine slamming back and forth when changing gears. replace the rear mount if you suspect its bad.

lifetime warranty? you sure about that?
(going to order my front & side mounts tomorrow)

trying to decide which vendor to go with.
also, is it best to contact them directly via email & tell em you're with acurazine to get a discounted pricing?

Yup, Limited Lifetime warranty at AutoZone.

Funny you replied when you did...looks like I'll be utilizing that lifetime warranty this weekend....front mount is shot...got like 2-3 inches of movement....will see if I can shoot a video.

HMMM Doesn't look bad. Mine moved very quickly and it was more evident that it was loose and shot.

there are 3 (front, side, rear) engine mounts (& if iirc, 2 tranny mounts too?)

i wouldn't buy them from autozone. i'd get 'em through an acurazine sponsor. that way you could get a discount through them instead. makes sense if you're into saving some $$

^ yeah oem parts are ass, but the after market stuff you find at advanced auto or autozone are just oem replacements (same stuff pretty much). they are still ass, its just they might come with a warranty or be cheaper.

spend some time and poly fill the mounts, which is my next project.

arghhh!, i just hate seeing our shitty motor mounts in action, makes me want to thats just how they are.
if you add ingalls stiffy engine tq damper, its basically keeps the engine in place and minimizes moment, take it, it still moves. im going to change my damper setting to a stiffer setting since there is still some moment id like to get rid of.

over time the rubber in the mount gets worked up so much it looses its elasticity and allows more moment, eventually it breaks.

Motor Mounts

Aloha,

I am in the middle of replacing my front mount (the one pointing to the front of the car) and I have everything off expect for the last bolt on the alum bracket on the motor. Its the one behind the exhaust down pipe. How the hell did you guys break this loose? I have a 14mm wench and 10" of pipe for leverage and I can not break it lose. Also, I am doing this on a garage floor with no lift other then a floor jack. Do you use special tools or do I just need to drink more muscle milk?

Mahalo

Never mind guys, I figured out what I was doing wrong. Things work allot better when you loosen something instead of tightening it. lol Thanks again for all the tips and hints in this page, I was able to replace both my mounts in about 8 hrs.

Hey guys, when changing the rear mount on a 99 TL, is it best to take it out through the top or bottom? How long does it take. I got side and front changed, i dont want my rear to tear my 2 new ones. Thanks

Take it out through the top. How long depends on you.

The only hose you will unplug is the vac hose to the mount. Here is a diy:
