u dont really need motor mounts unless they are broken, you can save money on the parts online at places like honda parts unlimited or oemacura ect ..as far as having them installed, i actually found my mechanic on craigslist and paid $60 to have a front motor mount replaced ( labor ) if you choose craigslist make sure the tech is certified, i lucked out and found a master tech that used to work at acura who has his own shop now, i wouldnt pay the dealer that much, i refuse to pay ridiculous prices to the dealer

If his are original and with that mileage i can almost place money on the fact that they have been broken for 50k+ miles now.

Op. you are getting hosed. 700+ to install a mount is a giant ripoff. Install them yourself of find a small independent shop. This job shouldnt cost more than 100 to do (depending on how many they have to replace of the 5 mounts we have)

Get the mounts here

The life of mounts depends on your driving habits, my front mount cracked @200, 000 miles. Rear tranny mount broke @ 150,000 miles. I think the most common broken mounts on Honda/Acura auto is the front mount, and the small rear mount on the transmission. If it shift hard going to gear or between gears, then check for broken mount.

Id place money that you have been driving on a front mount that was bad well before that. They dont last long.

And the most common mounts to fail are the front and right side mounts.

It could be maybe i didn't see that until i pulled my tranny out @200k miles, the first time replacing the tranny @ 120k the mount was fine.

Looking at them isnt the way to tell. To do it properly you need a vacuum pump.

I have a 2004 TL that needs a new front motor mount and I'm trying to find a certified Acura tech to do the work in the Washington, DC area.

Try Regions at the top of the page. You'll have better luck there.

Took my TL (158,000 miles) to the dealer today for an oil change and they told me I need the front and passenger engine mounts replaced. They said they could do it in three hours for $1020 plus tax.......I said no and took it to a small garage a few blocks away and they got in there and said it is the rear mount, which is the toughest to change and could do it for between $500 and 600. Who do you trust? How much would it cost for a third opinion on the front and passenger mounts?
Any input would be appreciated.
