mityvac brake bleed question
mityvac brake bleed question
Ok, Im bleeding my brakes in order to change the fluid (my brake pedal felt perfect already) using the mityvac hand pump solo. I know I am hitting each wheel in the right order. After the first wheel (drivers front), I cant get anything but air out of the other wheel (passengers front).
I have read that you might need teflon tape or grease around the threads of the bleeder screw to prevent air from getting in and keep a good suction. So would this be the reason why I can't suck any more fluid out? If so, how the hell do you seal the threads of the bleeder screw? I would imagine a large amount of fluid going everywhere if i decided to unscrew the bleeder screw in order to wrap tape around it.

Ok I just did it finally without messing with the teflon tape. Brake fluid was coming out of each one, but they took FOREVER. The only one that came out at a reasonable rate was the first wheel (drivers front). I think next time I will just use the one man tube in a jar method.
The vacuum bleeder I bought came with a small tube of grease that's used around the hose/bleeder connection and between the fill jar and lid. Creates a seal so max. suction is applied to the bleeder.
