Midgets In the Dash Board?

Okay so I have a 00 TLP with about 120k. I was letting my lil sis drive so she can learn and when she got in the drivers seat and press the gas I heard this Loud Kocking sounds like some midgets were inside my dash knocking. It dosent last to long about 15 secs. I tried to look under the hood and locate the sound but to no avail I can't find it. I did a search but I didn't find anything that makes me feel like they had the same problem. Help me out PLEASE!

Did someone slip 87 octane in your gas tank?

Or the timing belt tensioner is giving out?

Did you do the timing belt plus tensioner and water pump at 105K?

Well.. I havent done anything to it. i will check and see if a bar is loose but it seems real loud inside right behind and below the radio. the only thing I had done recently was the Tranny and it was done by acura. So.. I guess I will look tomorrow at the links and bars.

The midgets are on to you! I had some noise coming from the engine and it was my CAI pipe hitting the frame!

check under the dash or take it apart and see if something can lose......this would explain why you only hear it every once in a while.....

Vaccum up all the crumbs and take out any water/pop containers. With no food around, he will move on....

Man it's gotta be something deep in there. It's definitely in the dash area. Not in the engine. Dose the vents move in there during th start up of the car. That is usally when I hear it. It just started back so im going nutz here. Someone has to have heard this before. It kinda sounds like a vent or something trying to move and its getting stuck on something so it keeps trying and trying for like 20 secs or so.. HELP ME TOM CRUISE!!! HELP ME OPRAH!!! HELP ME ACURAZINE!!

Try turning the climate control OFF before turning engine off
Its less strain on things when all the eletrics ar off anyway
Start car and listen, then turn climate on and listen again

At this point we need to know for certain if the climate doors are vacuum operated

Anyone have the for sure answer on this?

Or get out a vacuum guage and hook it up and have friend cycle the heat controls

And you dont need the dealer for this- just a good Acura guy, look in the phone book under automobile repair for an import shop or Acura specialist

Well I know recently I noticed that when I try to cut the air flow from the dash to just the floor. It still blows through the dash. Maybe it is that thing that open and closes those whatevas. Maybe someone knows what im talking about.

Im almost 100% positive the climate door is electrical.

Try taking off the glove box. If it is that you will hear it alot easier cause its right there. Does it only do it when the car is running or can you duplicate the sound by shutting it off and turning it to run?

It only does it when the car is running. I think it is what you said it was. The climate control. I can be driving and when I turn the to the colder setting it will start knocking as if a door is trying to turn. But when I turn it back to hot it will stop. It does this everytime I try to change the temp. It dosent constantly do it. Just for about 20 secs or so.

This is an air/mix control (Item #6) that controls your temperature with the climate control. I guarantee you after u replace it, there will be no more issues. Very simple to do, a 15 minute DIY.
I'm almost positive this is what you were talking about fsttyms1. From the thread it sounds like my exact issue. Which index number is it. Or I will just take the part# to Acura and see what they give me and replace that. Thanx anyway.
