Mechanic Monmouth County NJ

I have a 99 TL 3.2 Canadian model 170K km...after reading several post on here I will attempt to replace my EGR valve and clean out the intake myself. I havent picked up the EGR valve from the dealer yet and might skip that and just clean out the intake (any pictures that anyone could provide would be great). I'm looking for a good mechanic in the area, I live in Colts Neck NJ. I'm going to have to do the valves soon and dont want to have to go to my old mechanic in NY. Anybody know of anyone around these parts that gets the ??

welcome to the forum
the DIY list is 3rd item down main thread list

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/diy-thermoblok-spacers-install-egr-cleaning-615644/
that one includes install of a heat spacer so skip thru those steps-
but removal and install of the manifold and all related parts is covered in detail, plus many tips over the following pages..iirc the acura method is there too
a 99 is the pic car

clean the IACV on bottem of TB unit while its apart, lube throttle cables etc

lube the egr valve operating arm, very rare to need new one + expensive

DO need to clean the egr port and passage- all the way thru the manifold with a wire coat hanger or similar, and out
the hole under egr valve needs it too,,the valve will be off anyway so clean, lube, and reinstall

ck the Regions link at top right of pages, thats broken into areas for members to connect thru organizing car meets or other activities --
you can ask for local shop referances there
but the egr is a simple 2 hour `at a casual pace` job

thanks for the info guys...I plan on keeping the car for a while so if I do something I want to do it right and not to have to worry about it for another few years. Thanks NJ SHAWD, I'll be in touch.

I go to this guy in South Jersey around Fort Dix. His username is tl2slow. He's on the forum sometimes but I doubt he ever comes to the 2G section. He's a really cool guy and really anal about cars so he makes everything perfect. And he will hook you up with a good price too since he works from his garage. If you are interested, I can give you his number.
