Maintenance required light

The maintenance required light on my 99 tl flashes ten times whenever I turn the car on. Any ideas?

Means service is due. In awhile the light will stay on.

its a oil change reminder/mileage counter since last reset- by driver or oil change place
at 6000 it starts blinking, 7000 gets more insistant- 7500 stays on all the time
until you reset

put key in ignition
put left hand THRU the top of steering wheel
with left hand push and hold BOTH trip buttons in
with right hand turn key to ON-= not start-- just on-- so dash lights up
mait light will blink 10 seconds and go off
turn key off and remove hands
Its reset!

Now go change the oil~ we use 5w-30, any brand you like 5 qts with a new filter

quickie place wont know how
the thing ONLY counts miles- has no idea of the oil level or condition or anything else--just miles since last counter reset
(kms for our Canadian ziners)

look at the dipstick to be sure its clean new oil,,,,and reset
