Maint. Required light stays on

I've got an 01 tl with 96,075 miles and just today when I started up the car the maint. required light stays on. I just changed the oil and i'm not too sure what else it could be.

Its a light that comes on every 7500 miles. All it does is remind you to change your oil. It comes on every 7.5k no matter what. It needs to be reset to turn off and the instructions are in the manual.

press and hold the 2 trip buttons with your left hand while reaching thru the steering wheel- now with your right hand turn key on while holding buttons in- they flash several times and reset-

if you have the key on first, you reset the outside temp guage adjustment

This might sound kind of dumb, but why would you need to reset the outside temp gauge?

to calibrate the outside air temp guage!!- there is a 5 degree up or down adjustment range.
Best way to set perfect is place the probe (sits in front of the radiator under hood latch)
in glass of ice cubes with water- should read 32- adjust readout as needed
The purpose of the outside guage- is for when its near freezing temps, and there is moisture on the road or you cross a bridge- if temp is within 5 degres of 32F, ice or black ice on the road is possible
So keeping you aware is its purpose.... as you sit on heated leather and interior auto-temp set at 73, you may forget the dangers outside

I would take it that you press the Select and Reset buttons to advance or retard the temperature?
