Low Idle

I have an 02 Acura TL Type S and it seems to have a low idle issue. The car would drive fine but sometimes when coming to a stop for example at a stoplight, the car will seem like it wants to stall. If I mash gas it wouldn't but if I don't it would stall. I service my car like clockwork so I have ruled that out. Spark plugs are still like new. Any thoughts?

Perhaps the MAP sensor, or the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

It sits on top of the throttle body

Have you checked that you can rotate the IACV internal mechanism properly? it requires disassembly which can be tricky but if it were stuck it could be stuck in closed position which kills its ability to bring your idle speed to the correct value.

Does it surge when it's idling or just choke out and try to die? Does it happen when it's a cold start or only when the car is warm?

Problem Solved

Valve cover gasket is leaking oil. Oil is going into the spark plug. Switched out parts and she's working like a charm.
