02 tl is making a loud knocking noise. Mainly does it when its in park. Seems to only do it after ive been driving the car for a longer period. The noise comes and goes but when its doing it and its in park it pretty loud. And when I put it in drive the noise seems to speed up with the car than disapear. But than sometimes I think I hear it while in drive and moving, might just be less noisy.

 

I am having the same issue. The knocking noise seems to be really loud when the car is idling. It souns like it is coming from the lifters and also from where one of the belts is spinning. The car drives fine but man do I hate that sound! Did you get your issue resolved? what was the problem?

 

Have your valves adjusted. Have a mechanic inspect the belt tensioner, they are some times the noise culprit

 

first suspect is the ac belt tensioner
you can see it at top front of engine,,mine went at 80kmiles,
sounded like a V8 engine.. the bearing was so bad!

get the entire unit for ~100, ck parts store and aftermarket
