Intermittent cruise control problem
Intermittent cruise control problem
I have begun experiencing a problem with the cruise control last week which the dealer is unable to correct. Basically, the main switch (which I have always left on) is lit and I assume functioning. When I touch the set control, the cruise may or may not function and there appears to be no rhyme or reason as to why. Additionally, it will sometimes set, then cancel itself after some period of time. Does anyone have any ideas? I appreciate any help.

I know that when I first bought my '01 TL-p my cruise control didn't work. The main switch was lit but when I went to set the control it wouldn't set.
Took it to Midas (Nears Acura Dealer is a 1 1/2 hour drive) they just took the cap of off the control module in the engine and tried to manually engage the module using a battery charger and when they did that it started working.
They say it blew out some dust or with the extra boost of wattage the module was freed, or some crap like that. Well it’s working now and that is all I care about.
I don’t know if this is your case but I hope you figure it out because not having cruse sucks.

Thank you all for your help. Can you tell me, or point me to a place where I can find out
1) Where the brake switch is located so that I can take a look at the connections. 2) Where the cruise module is located and what it looks like so that I can do the same.
I have played around a little with it on my way to work today (a 40 mile drive that really sucks without cruise). Seems like when the cruise would shut off, I was able to bring it back a few times by tapping the break and then hitting the set switch. I wonder if there is some sort of tension setting on the brake switch that controls how much the pedal has to move before it activiates and this is set badly? Is that possible?
again, thanks for the help.
