Intermittant starting problem
Trick bolts for the coils-?
It's too bad he interprets it as "counter" to his position- sometimes a given problem can have different solutions. Goal needs to be rectify problems, considering various suggestions, not bashing.

iirc the coil `bolts` require the allen wrench type tool,,its been a while since changed mine--brain fade,,
something new diy'rs or new to the TL may not be familar with, thats the level of diy/post I try to write
If I am dead wrong about something, educate me on a subject!! If not--leave me alone~
yes fries I know a mile is 5280,,5230 was an obvious mistype...3 8 G,, all looks the same at this age

the coils are held in place with a metric cap screw ( it helps if you use the proper terminology when discriping stuff) , requiring a metric allen wrench to remove.
TPS throttle position switch is located at the end of the shaft of the butterfly on the throttle body start with where the throttle cable attaches and then look on the otherside, My acura parts or the service manual will be a good source to use for you to educate yourself on your cars component locations.
there is a electrical connection to this piece, un plug clean contacts, remove screws clean out internals of TPS and interface reinstall. I also suggest you download the service manual for free and keep it on your computer for future reference.

left side of TB is where he is talking about
what about a handy link to the pdf? instead of bitching about what you think I dont know
sometimes you have to use common terms like allen wrech bolt for noobs to find and identify
You are the golden guru of electricity--not everyone here is

does removal-clean-install of the TPS affect its position and abilty to read correctly
does it need to be recalibrated or reset with a multimeter or similar device?
its a position sensor... so there must be some spec involved we can test its function too???
If you are going to send noobs on this journey, at least give us/them a flashlight

afterall your the JA harping about the TPS even though I listed IAC first, and then also stated a vacuum leak can cause the problem as well later. SO thats three things to inspect, but lets dick with the plugs for fun and waist more time solving nothing.

OP was a noob to azine and with only 2 post on subject,, probably went to a shop--didnt report back to us
regular ziners report back so the next person can shortcut the diagnosis
Im going to trust our Mega-Guru of gen2 TL fsttyms1--on all things TL.
for those who cant decode his name,, thats `Fast Times WON`
He has personally rebuilt his auto trans,, and pulled his engine apart at 200kmiles --when the cls w/6 speed manual trans went in
it was pristine inside!!--regular use of seafoam and long oil change intervals were no problem

Thanks (I think) for all the replies. I took the throttle body off and cleaned the butterfly and bore, there was some minor carbon build up. I was going to take off the IACV, but didn't have the 5-point specialty driver to remove the screws, so I just kept spraying in carb cleaner and wiping out with cotton swabs. It wasn't as fouled as I thought it would be. Now, its wait and see.
