immobilizer replacement

I have come to find that my immobilizer receiver needs replacement. I diagnosed the issue using the factory service manual. When I called to price the part I was told that the dealer would have to reprogram the unit after install. Can anyone confirm this, as the service manual does not. I do not want to pay extra money for no good reason. Also can someone recommend a cheaper source for the part (Immobilizer Receiver)? Thanks in advance!

Now are you talking about the part by the ignition switch?

Yes. It is the Immobilizer Receiver located around the ignition key cylinder. Has two plugs going into it a 5pin and a 7pin.

You dont need to have the key reprogrammed for that. That is only necessary if you have to replace the ECU where the Immobilizer is actually located and what the key gets programmed to.
