I'm getting a new tranny - 2002 TLS

Like the look and drive of my 2002 TL-S but sadly the transmission went out for the first time this week at 67k miles. New tranny from the dealer. I've read about all the problems.

My question is, are the latest tranny replacments better now than they used to be? Can I expect to drive my car to 120k with the new tranny or do I need to get rid of this car next year before the 2nd tranny fails?

regards,

JC / San Jose, CA

There was a design improvement in February of 2005 that may be extending the transmission's lifespan. But it may take a while before the updated transmissions can demonstrate improved lifepans.

just had my 02 tls tranny replaced at 63k, I noticed it now has a red dexron type fluid in it and a new ecu was also installed. The transmissions first few shifts when cold are a little rougher than before but all else seems fine. How long is acura covering the replacement trannys? Hopefully it is 7yrs./100000mi. like the first ones.
