IACV coolant bypass attempted

Just did a valve adjustment and simultaneously bypassed the IACV coolant line. Just an attempt to solve the rough idle problem when hot and parked at an angle. I've had this problem for more than a year now and decided to act on it when I read all about it in this forum years back. Ill report back after about a month or so...lets see

Here's an update. Done with the valve adjustment and the IACV coolant line bypass just as some pix were shown in this forum a few years back. I connected the female vertical and the horizontal rubber hoses for coolant continuity and sealed their male counterparts. Likewise, I removed and cleaned the throttle body butterfly and making sure its contours are shut and sealed closed at idle position. Also removed and cleaned the IACV and specifically separated the electrical black plastic part exposing the magnet cavity on one part and lubricated the bearing with wd40 on the other. I made sure the bearing drive side of the valve is turning smoothly as it was turning roughly before cleaning it. I believe this smooth turning bearing valve is also contributory to a very smooth idle. So there you go. It now idles smoothly when hot and at an angle.

Hello tom...sorry I do not have pics to show (not yet a computer expert) nor the link but I believe I read it on the 3.2 CL forum a few years back. Did your tl have this specific problem for a time?

I also did the IAC and also VSA TB Coolant Bypass... Has been working wonderfully and really helps in the hot days in summer to keep at least the engine airflow cooler before hitting the oven.

I think many in this forum have already done this mod as I've read 2006 posts on it. But despite a latecomer Im happy I did this and my sincere thanks to the forum member who took time to take pix and explain things and I believe you know who you are. Gone are my trembling engine and rough idles on hot starts....so far . Happy w the car once again.
