your sure the hi beams were really on- you looked at them personally?
could be the indicator bulb in the dash
why do you use the hi beams anyway- they are worthless compared to the HID low beams

I think there are individual bulbs on that back portion of the gauge cluster that are responsible for each indicator. Im not sure how difficult it is to get to them because I never took mine apart. I have the same problem but it my maintenance required light.

If in fact the high beams came on id suspect the bulb for the indicator is bad and needs to be replaced

I am guessing the DIY section has a thread on installing different color dash lights and will have direction to remove the plastics, or do the dash reach around and find the quick connector for that bulb---one can hope~

And confirm both hi beam bulbs work- it can be a case like the turn signal bulbs, one goes out and the system acts wierd so you notice right away!!

It is very uncommon for the dash hi-beam indicator bulb to burn out, unless someone turns on the hi-beam headlight and blinds oncoming traffic all the times.

I don't think many drivers enjoy having the high beam, from oncoming traffic, blinding them.
