HIDs: problem after problem

A couple weeks ago, I noticed my driver side headlights (which had water drops inside)--both low and high beams weren't working. I checked the fuse. It was bad. I replaced it with a spare. Only the high beams worked.

So I did a Google search, and I fell upon this info mine forum here. Common blah, blah, blah. Also, I made some calls and was not able to pay for original parts. So I got the aftermarkets.

I installed it, followed directions (except for switching the original parts to check which were bad), and I got the same result. I switched the relays around. The only thing that changed was the passenger side would turn off. I turned it back on and it would stay on.

UNTIL, I called the HIDextra and explained my situation. Ok, switch the ballasts. Well, the passenger side did not turn on. The driver side turned on for a little bit and it would turn off. At the same time, the passenger side marker lights turned off too.

They're sending me replacement ballasts. I hope this works.

Could this be something else?

Recheck all of your wiring connections and grounds. Everything must be spliced properly and be secure, otherwise problems can arise.

I see you said you checked the relays. Did you check the fuses? There id a fuse for each light.

This happened to me many years ago. Body shop replaced my passenger light with a brand new tyc and it got condensation. It burned the ballast...which shop paid for a new oem one, and took out the fuse as well.

My HIDextra kit had a bad igniter (wire & cap that goes on the end of the bulb. Both ballets and both bulbs would work as long they had the good igniter on them.

You need to fix the water getting into the housing, that can ruin bulbs and blow fuses.

Yep. Fuses rechecked. Wiring rechecked. I had to redo the driver side. I did reseal the casing as soon as I dried the bad one out. It appears that the previous had done this too.

Thanks, guys. This is an adventure. lol

I thought about checking this but I was afraid of breaking the bulb taking the igniter off. (I have a broken index finger.)

Guess I better do this also.
