HID Problem

Hey guys, Over the weekend in NJ we got alot of rain. I noticed that my passanger head light had a little amount of moisture. Then My headlight started to flicker fast like a strobe light, and just died. I am hoping its just the bulb, but I know it can be the ballest that went. Can anyone with some expirence please advise what should I do? I know I should swap out the working bulb with the one that is out to see if its just the bulb. Is there anything else I could do to fix this issue? Thanks in advance.

swap the bulbs to see if the ballast blew up, if water got inside than the ballast might have blew up.

you can put aftermarket ballasts in as a custom job, i did it. its not hard to do. a hid kit on ebay is dirt cheap and it works.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the weather and we are going to be rain free for a couple of days so I will swap the bulbs and see. If its not the bulb I might just order a HID kit off one of the vendors in the black market.

Stupid question, how can I tell if it is just the fuse? What are the signs that it is blown? I dont want to take the bumper off for no reason.

If you look @ the fuse, there is a metal bar/bracket inside the fuse. If its broken+burnt, it means the fuse is blown.. if the bar/bracket is intact, that means your good.

Thanks man, I just checked the fuse on my lunch break and they look good. I also turned on the lights and was hearing for the hum that comes from the ballast. I hear it on the drivers side which is the good one, but I dont hear it on the passangers side which is the bad one. I think my ballast is the issue. I will swap out the bulbs if not then

If you don't want to resort to a cheap ebay kit that may fail over time (like I had happen), you can find stock ballasts on ebay for less than 200 bucks with shipping. It's your best bet if you want to stay stock and not spend a fortune on a new ballast.

Here's a link to one for sale currently: 2002 TL OEM Ballast

Thanks man, I saw that on ebay the other night. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to just get a kit from that vendor (HID XTRA) from the black market?

Well that's the best OEM option and what I would highly recommend. I've gone the cheap Ebay way and it didn't pay off in the end. Warm up time takes 3 times as long, the ballast failed midway through winter and the color didn't match the OEM ballast I had on the other side

I don't think I disconnected the battery...but you could to be safe. The ballast still holds enough charge when disconnected to be quite dangerous. If it turns out to be your bulb, search for KAIXEN on here. I have the 6k bulbs and they look/work great.
