HELP..."Reset" and "Select" buttons don't work!!

I just recently changed my oil and oil filter. Since then about three days ago the "MAINT REQ" light started flasing at start-up. Well I've been following the steps per the owner's manual to reset it and neither button works. I can't reset trip A or trip B and can't select trip A or B either. What could be wrong?

just to verify procedure:

with your left hand reaching thru the steering wheel, you push and hold A and B buttons in.
Now with your right hand- turn the key to ON but not to start position
The light should begin blinking for about 10 seconds and shut off
You are good for another 7500 miles and the next oil change reminder light time

The reset/select button connector may be loose at the back. But to get access to the connector, you'll have to remove the whole instrument cluster. So only try this after you've run out of options.

I actually just now went and checked to see if they light up but they don't. Does that mean what I think it means?

It is highly unusual for a simple mechanic push switch to malfunction, plus the fact that both switches fail together. It's just an contact switch. There's no electronics inside. If you need to remove the instrument cluster and peek around the backside, see below link for detailed instructions.
