Question HELP! One of the belts is acting up again

I did a thread a few months back on alternator belt sound, soem of you suggested I add some belt dressing, I actually went to acura got the entire belt changed. yesterday I wake up and I turn the wheel it makes a sound. This time it wasnt a squeeling sound, more like a gear sound. I opened the hood and everytime i turn the wheel it sound like the wheel was making the sound then affecting the serpentine belt, I checked power steering fluid it doensnt seem like its that. After a while it stops, I guess when the car is warmed up. Any idea?

BTW I changed the serpentine belt like 4 months ago

did you change both belts? maybe the power steering belt needs to be tightened.

Sounds like the power steering belt... (or the tensioner on it)

But - I'm no expert when it comes to our cars... but on an old Chevy... it could be the power steering fluid (low), belt is bad, or bad ps pump. Most of the time it would be the belt going bad and/or needed to be tightened (cause it's going bad and stretching out before it breaks - thus making noise when stressed - as in when wheels are turned)...

Hope this helps.

^ PS belt doesn't have a tensioner. It's tensioned by a long bolt that raises/lowers the PS pump. I'd check the tension on that.

If I remember right, it's about an inch of travel if you push on the side of the belt with moderate force.

Your issue is the power steering belt if your having issues with it while turning the wheel.

I been having the same problem these last few mornings. Its from the cold start in the morning. My mechanic said its probably the power steering pump.

Sounds like a failing pump. Will the wheels turn smoothly when you turn the steering wheel or does it feel different? You said you checked the fluid it doesn't seem like it's that- what do you mean 'seem'-? Is the fluid level correct?

its not the fluid.. the fluid is full. when i turn the car on in the mornings, i let the car warm up for alittle until the needle moves up pass the first line. I pull out and everytime i turn the wheel i can hear a sounds. I really dont know how to describe the sounds, i can hear like the belt moving when i turn the wheel, it also sounds like the gears are tight, not sure.. But after a few minutes; lets say 10 minutes of driving the sounds goes away completely till next morning. So I'm assuming it has to do with the belt being cold and not enough oils going through it..

The same thing is happening to me and it started happening after the timing belt/water pump issue. The mechanic said he thinks its the pump though.

I had a PS pump fail after a timing belt job (different car) too. I'm thinking it's because when the belt for the PS pump was replaced it was tensioned tighter and stressed the (marginal) pump. Just a theory.

So I was getting ready to take my car to Acura today so they can give me a diagnostic. I had a camcorder ready so I can record the sound, being that the sound dies 15 minutes after the car is on. I turn the car on this morning and no sound is coming from the belts. I did'nt know if to be upset or happy. Today was a warm morning, so Im starting to think the weather has something to do with it. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder, lets see what happens

You put the O ring on the first shoulder on the inlet joint, as pictured above. Put some power steering fluid to lubricate the ring a little. Also don't make the same mistake I made, my old black O ring was stuck inside, make sure you take that out. So far, this seems to have fixed the problem.

thats because to diagnose it its between $50-$100. so if u didnt want them to do it you would of still had to pay the 50-100 and then the price of the parts u needed to do it.
