HELP! One of the belts is acting up again
I did a thread a few months back on alternator belt sound, soem of you suggested I add some belt dressing, I actually went to acura got the entire belt changed. yesterday I wake up and I turn the wheel it makes a sound. This time it wasnt a squeeling sound, more like a gear sound. I opened the hood and everytime i turn the wheel it sound like the wheel was making the sound then affecting the serpentine belt, I checked power steering fluid it doensnt seem like its that. After a while it stops, I guess when the car is warmed up. Any idea?
BTW I changed the serpentine belt like 4 months ago

Sounds like the power steering belt... (or the tensioner on it)
But - I'm no expert when it comes to our cars... but on an old Chevy... it could be the power steering fluid (low), belt is bad, or bad ps pump. Most of the time it would be the belt going bad and/or needed to be tightened (cause it's going bad and stretching out before it breaks - thus making noise when stressed - as in when wheels are turned)...
Hope this helps.

^ PS belt doesn't have a tensioner. It's tensioned by a long bolt that raises/lowers the PS pump. I'd check the tension on that.
If I remember right, it's about an inch of travel if you push on the side of the belt with moderate force.

I went to a local spot they said to give it a week cause it only happens the 1st 15 min in the morning.. He said that their is air in the belt... I don't know wat that means.. But imma give it a few being that it only happens when car is cold.. I'll keep u guys posted
Sounds like a failing pump. Will the wheels turn smoothly when you turn the steering wheel or does it feel different? You said you checked the fluid it doesn't seem like it's that- what do you mean 'seem'-? Is the fluid level correct?
its not the fluid.. the fluid is full. when i turn the car on in the mornings, i let the car warm up for alittle until the needle moves up pass the first line. I pull out and everytime i turn the wheel i can hear a sounds. I really dont know how to describe the sounds, i can hear like the belt moving when i turn the wheel, it also sounds like the gears are tight, not sure.. But after a few minutes; lets say 10 minutes of driving the sounds goes away completely till next morning. So I'm assuming it has to do with the belt being cold and not enough oils going through it..
I had a PS pump fail after a timing belt job (different car) too. I'm thinking it's because when the belt for the PS pump was replaced it was tensioned tighter and stressed the (marginal) pump. Just a theory.
So I was getting ready to take my car to Acura today so they can give me a diagnostic. I had a camcorder ready so I can record the sound, being that the sound dies 15 minutes after the car is on. I turn the car on this morning and no sound is coming from the belts. I did'nt know if to be upset or happy. Today was a warm morning, so Im starting to think the weather has something to do with it. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder, lets see what happens

You put the O ring on the first shoulder on the inlet joint, as pictured above. Put some power steering fluid to lubricate the ring a little. Also don't make the same mistake I made, my old black O ring was stuck inside, make sure you take that out. So far, this seems to have fixed the problem.
Dont do what i did, thats go to the dealer.. Its not covered under the warranty and i got screwed. They did not call me and ask permission to do the job and i got hit with a $65 bill when i could of done it myself
I go to acura of manhattan, the women that always takes care of me, she usually calls me before they do work and never got charged for a diagnostic. Today i went with a diff guy, i knew i should gone back with her..thats my fault..
My 07 TL was covered under warranty and they replaced the whole pump including the o-ring.
