Hey my 00 Acura TL is California emissions and i live in New York. Do i have to get certain O2 sensors? i saw some denso on ebay cheap for both. Thanks for the help.

 

Are your O2 sensors bad ? Do ya have a CEL ?

I'm unsure if California uses a specific sensor, but it's always worth a few bucks more to get the original equipment part for something this critical, IMO.

 

If the O2 is problem get the denso on amazon. It's our OEM supplier brand.
Denso 234-4621 Oxygen Sensor (catalyst) ,denso 234-4096(front)
It's direct fit on my 99 TL so should be the same fit on 00.
I've been running it on 4 years already now.

 

thanks for the help guys.. i have a CEL light im getting PO131 and PO171 Codes.. i just dont wanna buy the wrong part because Acura told me that i have to get them from California cuz its a Cali car.. Should i try the Denso?

 

denso is the OEM brand. I was able to get the bank 2 Denso sensor from NAPA for like 45 bucks. takes about 15 mins to install. But the Cali emission o2 sensor is different. i would suggest using the specified sensor..not sure how different the two sensors are but i wouldn't take any chances

 

Tried the one that I mentioned. I live in California and already passed twice smog check with the same O2 sensors.

 

thanks guys.. i talked to couple techs and they said im gonna have to get the california emissions o2 sensor.. sucks when it more money.. The car only acts up when its cold out.. otherwise its fine..

 

Hey guys I'm new to this website and jus became a member. I have a issue with my 99 Acura TL and I was hoping someone could give me some insight. My car would start and die sometimes and when I start it I would have to rev the engine a couple time before driving it and drive right away... That went on for some weeks cause I didn't have the money to fix it at the time.. And now it stops excelling when i drive it and when I pulled over on the side of the road it totally shuts down... I replace the cat converter but not the 02 sensor ... I don't want to keep replacing stuff and them not be the problem.. I need help someone ???

When was the last time that the EGR passageways were cleaned ?
Check our "DIY" sticky for tips on cleaning the EGR system. '99 models were notorious for this. Do ya have a CEL on ?
If so, have the codes read and tell us. We may be able to better help ya then.

Do you have a check engine light on ? That can be many things is best to have it scanned so we can have clues and know what we're dealing with here. 99 Is known for bad ignition switches and clogged egr , Other stuff to look at that causes a rough idle: vacuum leak, Iacv gunked up, bad spark plugs and bad coil. Theres lots more but these are the common ones for these cars.
