hi!!! i'm new here on acurazine.com and new to the TL world.... i own 1999 TL at the moment.... my problem @ the moment is that my turn signals don't work when i have the headlights on and sometimes work with the headlights off....when i say sometimes, i mean sometimes....cuz once in a while it would work with the headlights off.... its weird cuz sometimes the turn signals would only work when i'm already making a turn.... but when i purchased my TL the turn signals were working fine with or without the headlights turned on.....pls acurazine, help me out here....i need ur advice....thanks in advance!!!!!!

 

Check the connector on the turn bulb. It might be loose. Is it both bulbs or only one?

As far as the turn signal not working when the headlights are on, I can't really think of anything. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

 

have you tried replacing the bulbs for the turn signals? Check the wiring and grounds in that area. If every thing looks fine there it may be in the switch or multiplex.

update: i just found out that when the headlights are turned on my brake lights don't work....instead of the brakes lights working when i step on the brakes with the headlights on, the back turn signals go off when i step on the brake...i know it sounds really weird but that's whats happening... any feedback guys....help me out here

 

i also tried the hazards and when the hazards r turned on with the headlights on, the brake lights start blinking, wtf is going on???

 

damn this sucks....

 

did some searching and found out that it could be 2 problems....either the relay for the turn signal and hazards need to be replaced or the actual turn signal lever assembly in the steering column might need to be replaced...i'll try to change the relay tomorrow and c if that helps....

 

Is it possible some of the bulb sockets/connectors have been switched around? Does the wiring look like it's routed properly? You didn't say if you tried replacing any bulbs- ?

 

Sounds like a bad ground , or wrong, or incorrectly installed bulbs.

 

i changed 1 of the bulbs for the brake light a while back..... here's what i noticed today too....i turn on the hazard lights with my headlights off, and then turned on my headlights and i heard a clicking noise coming from the shift lever....what could it be???

 

i noticed today that everytime i step on the brake while i'm signaling, my turn signals would turn off and back on when i release the brake pedal...what is going on???

 

Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

 

nope, just a factory alarm

 

sounds like you have a faulty ground or a short somewhere but unfortunately I am not much more help than that...

I am having this same exact issue in my 98 acura cl can anyone help please? it is a problem i need fixed as soon as possible i havent driven my car in about 2 weeks because im afraid i will get rear ended by someone who cant tell if im braking or not?

The site has a specific forum for "CL" models. But while you're here....is it only the brake lights that don't work ? IE: The tail lamps will light up in the regular parking lamp mode, meaning that you should still have rear lights on while the headlamps are turned on.....only no "brake lights" when applying the brake pedal, Is this the case ????

Have you checked the lamps, wiring connectors, etc. My guess is that the brake pedal's switch is either bad or needs adjusted. Does the hi-mount rear lamp work ?

 

Thanks for replying 3.2TLc it is quite confusing to actually explain but similar to previous questions asked in this thread my brake lights only work when my headlights are off i recently replaced all the bulbs so those are brand new... when my headlights are off and i put my four ways on there is a clicking noise in my shift lever... in another case when im using my turn signals they only flash when my foot is off of the brake pedal once i press the pedal the turn signal goes off it is quite the odd situation? ive checked wiring connections as well can you shed some light on this for me please
