Help, 2003 TL not starting!
I appreciate any help anyone can be. I have a 2003 Acura TL. Intermittently it won't start, turn the key and nothing. Dashlights come on and everything but doesn't start. Thought it was batter, got brand new battery, started...but then occassionally won't start or move out of gear.
After research, I found that if I removed the little plate on the gear console and pressed down the shift lock button it would crank.
Now, if it doesn't crank, I push down shift lock release....still won't crank. If I move it in and out of park, several gears then back to park....cranks. Sometimes.
Battery is good, brake depressed everytime I try to crank.
Any suggestions?

I would start 1st with checking the starter itself. An old trick is to hit the starter with hammer or wrench and sometimes it will start working again. Any AutoZone or Advance Auto can test it for you.It’s a fairly easy part to replace.

I appreciate your insight but I checked the starter. The issue seems to be with the shift lock. When I can get it out of park and then back in, it tends to start.
