well i used a craftsmen feeler gauge. i used .22 for intake and .30 for exhaust. and i put the mark on the cam with the mark on the timing cover. i first set it to cylinder 1 than turned it til 4 than 2 than 5 than 3 than 6 and after i was done i put it back to 1 and started the car and thats what it started doing

Also did you make sure that you had the crank mark at 0 and the front cam at #1? If you just had the cam at 1 you may be off by 180 deg.

Being off my 180 will cause some serious damage when he starts the car. And I doubt that he would be able to adjust all valves on that cyl if he was off by 180

what i do it rotate it till #1 mark on the cam is with the mark on the housing, then see if u can move moth rocker arms up and down slightly with ur hand. that means that both valves are closed and ur at TDC. or do what kris said with the crank

Stop now. Align the crank to TDC, make sure the #1 cam mark is spot on. It cant be off by any bit. If a little bit didnt matter then the little bit you needed for adjusting the valves wouldnt matter. Make sure every thing is aligned, get the feeler gauge out and make sure every one is in spec again. When you adjust each one make sure the line is set perfect before adjusting.

been busy last weekend so i didnt touch teh tl. but the fast two days it drove great. until early this morning when i hit something on teh street or a curb. took my eyes off the road for 3sec and then bam. felt like i blew a tires i pull over and blew both pass side tires, shock is garbage, upper control arm is garbage. lower control arm is in teh shape of a banana (should be straight), radius rod is bent, inner fender cover is garbage, fender is bent a bit, axle is garbage. what a bad way to start the morning. was late to work and had to get the tl towed home.

also front rim is scratched up to hell FML

Either debris on the road or a curb. But I don't understand how my rear tire blew out if I hit a curb? I was doing 45-50mph (speed limit basically). But it happened. What pissed me off was that the cop that showed up gave me a ticket for improper lane usage. What fuckin bs. I told him nothing happened and I'm getting the car towed home. So he check what I could have hit and doesn't know either so he writes up some bs. Fuck the cops. The screwed me over so many times

Go to court and see if they will drop it. Maybe the cop won't even show up. Nothing to lose right?

its not busted. but i did get two tires and when they tried to balance the front rim it was asking for 15 ounces on the inside of the rim and 18 ounces in teh middle. it was literally an oval shape. anyone have a tl type s rim? condition doesnt matter as long as its round and not cracked

Tl

I have a '03 TL Type S, 73000 miles and I've been having the same frustrating misfire situation that you do. Rough at idle, sluggish exceleration, throwing up misfire codes (unsure which ones). Brought it to Acura who said I needed a valve adjustment. Did that as well as change plugs & clean EGR and a day later it started happening again.

Mechanic told me the next step might be replacing the EGR.

Have you figured out what's causing it yet? I'm afraid I'll end up dumping lots of money into things that aren't going to fix the problem. Can't afford it since I have no knowledge to fix it myself and have to take it to a shop for everything.

This is from the service report when I had a similar shaking problem 100k miles ago:

CEL, shakes at 1.5k rpm - misfire code, EGR stuck closed - Valve Set EGR
Random Misfire - Remove plentum, clean carbon from intake - Air Intake BG
Looks like you've been there already.
