Got Mold?

Hello folks,

I have a pearl white TL-03 and I have found mold in any area where there is no direct sunlight, ie near the gas cap, under the hood and trunk. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have tried removing it and it is difficult to get off.

Thanks, Bill

I just washed our Lexus last night after a long time of automatic car washes...both acura and lexus cars are white pearl....I found a similar deal on the inside trunk lips that I wipe after hand washing (open the trunk...wipe under side of lips, ect so they dont drip out plus it makes it look better) and they had a mold looking substance there on the underside with all the black I wiped off....funny you would mention a similar issue today! That and our house is North facing...so no sun on that side of house most all day...car sits in shade most of time...even when hot.

Acurabum,

Yes - mold is probably not the correct term. Michael describes what I am seeing. I see the "mold" in the lip area of the trunk, hood and gas cap.

Javez? You are kidding right? Bleach on the paint? I like my white paint vs. not paint.... ;-)

Thanks, Bill

simply hand wash and dry to remove every thing. Bug and tar remover would mostlikely work. any wax and grease remover would work, dawn, and diesel, Yes diesel fuel will work (it also works great on bugs, and tar) and it wont hurt the car. I would also recomend waxing it afterwards

Shouldnt. ive used bleach white tire spray in the past for white letter tires and my dads white wall tires and used it on grease spots. Try it in a inconspicuas spot first. It shouldnt do a thing to the clear coat
