Freezing passenger footwell

I rode side seat yesterday. There is a cold breeze blowing into the passenger side footwell it goes away when you turn the heat off.

It seems to be coming from the heater assembly? Any ideas what it could be?

the vent system drawing in air from outside and not running it across the heater core?

I've noticed a little bit of cold air coming through the vents when the heat is off. I think it's just the recirculation ...ie letting fresh air in. I guess it depends on how much air is coming in. Try putting you heat coming through the dash vents only then shut it off and see if you get some cold air coming through there.

What I was implying is that maybe at some point the heater unit was disassembled and not put back together properly. The cold air blows anytime the blower is on. Its occurs when set to recurculate or not. Something is loose or open before the heater coil.

A relay under the hood could cause un heated air to blow out of the heater assembly? I must say that heat does come out of the floor vent on the driver and passenger side. The problem is cold air blows out just behind the glove box going straight down.

Let me clarify, this air doesn't come from the vent system. It comes primarily from just behind the glovebox door and blows straight down. It increases and decreases with the blower speed.

I wish someone would chime in on how they had this fixed

If you've got cold air coming down from directly behind the glove box, the most likely cause is the cabin air filters are missing or improperly installed, allowing air to leak out through the hole where they go in. Take out the glove box and see what you find in the air box directly behind it.

I noticed that there was a cool breeze coming from that exact spot a couple of weeks ago. It turned out the cabin filters were filthy and really needed to be changed because when I changed them out, the breeze was gone. Because they were so clogged up the air that normally passes through them was being forced out through the side.
