Feels like Tranny is Lugging when coasting...

I have 98k on my 01 TL, had the Tranny replaced at 50k, for some reason now when I'm coasting down hill, it feels like my car is lugging forward, or lurching, or something. It won't just coast like it would normally, I can feel it pull me every now and then. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be due to a worn out timing chain? Or is this another Tranny issue? I wan't to get it fixed before something breaks and costs way more, but I want to be armed when I take it in so that someone doesn't try and tell me it's something that it's not.

i've actually seen in another thread that having a venom module could affect the tranny. something about since more power is being produced the tranny cannot handle it and will go

It is normal for TL when coasting. It is called Grade Logic. If you let go of the gas, it will be lurging.

Does anyone else's TL do this? I don't recall it happening until this winter when I was going snowboarding a lot and coming down fairly steep hills, It sure doesn't feel normal to me to have it pull like it does, I mean it's noticeable.

My car (2003 TL-S) does the same thing... it sucks and is one of the reasons why I hate the auto tranny in our cars. I usually throw it into tiptronic mode if it's lugging and force it into the next gear. My guess is that they added the "grade logic" as a safety feature. I think it's programmed a little to aggressive though and is more of an annoyance then anything else.

I'm driving an 07' MDX right now and have had no issues with it lugging on down hill grades so I think it's been fixed with the newer models. The funny thing is my car is in the shop right now for a blown tranny, hence the reason why I'm rolling in the MDX.

when i let off the gas at a 60mph roll - the car starts to slow pretty quick. About 5 mph in 4 seconds. i thought it was a brake issue, but when i put it in neutral, it coasts with no problem. is this a tranny issue or grade logic issue ( i have no clue what the grade logic is ) ?

grade logic wont slow it down that fast!
wiki it to understand full operation

ck your atf color and smell- how long since last changed at least 3 qts?

Try 4th gear or 3rd if needed on downhill, in D5 its always looking to save gas and gets freaked out on hills
