engine shuts off while driving *scary*
Im driving on a freeway at nite... and all of sudden i notice my odometer was dropping and so was my gas meter. The lights inside my car turned off and the car began to decelerate by itself. A few seconds after this, my car turned by on with the gas meter and odometer went back to normal and i could accelerate. Other times when this happen. I came to a complete stop and was on "D" drive so I had to start my car again on "P" pakring when the engine shutted off. What is wrong with my car? Im thinking sparks or ignition?

My guess is that your ignition switch is failing.
There was recall for the 1999 TL ignition switch and even the replacement switches are known to fail.
My 1999 TL is on its third ignition switch. I had similar symptoms with a loss in power along with the dash needles dropping towards zero. I also had low speed engine stalls along with starting problems.
If your switch has not been replaced under the recall, Acura will install a new one for free. If it has been replaced, you can install one yourself for about $50.
Here's a great DIY thread with photos that was posted by forum member 6MTUA5:

well 3 makes it an official guess right?!
you need an ignition switch
register and see if it was ever done under recall
if it was, just buy another and install

cmon thin- we want you to stick around~
- get the switch replaced before the car stalls in front of a big rig while you are getting on the freeway~
50 bucks for your safety/life,,, mom might even give you the money!

Driving last night and engine dies out
I was driving last night and the engine died out. I had this problem before where I was driving on the freeway and the power would go out and all of the sudden come back on and everything was fine, but last night was the first time where it went completely dead. Possibly the ignition switch?

thats the very first thing to check if its a 99-
plus check if the recall install of a switch was done- you can call acura
1-800-382-2238x5 with your vin and they can tell you
also happens to other years when you have a bunch of keys on the ring
