Engine dropping to idle while driving.

I have a 2001 tl I bough with several mechanical problems I have been slowly repairing. The one I haven't been able to figure out is the engine dropping to an idle while driving just like you took your foot off the gas peddle. I have already changed the tps witch I was convinced would solve that problem but it didn't. I don't have a cel on and the computer seems to think everything is ok. Is it possible I got a bad tps? Is that a common problem?

When does this our? Engine hot or cold or both? Infrequently or all the time? Highway speed or low speed? How long does it last? Is there something you do to bring it back? Need a little more info.

Happens just about every time the car is driven, doesn't seem to have anything to do with temperature or speed. It has occurred at 5mph and 70mph, while backing out of driveway when engine in still cold and when engine is hot. It only lasts about 3-10 seconds and I haven't found anything that I can do to bring it back. Just have to wait for it to come back and pumping the accelerator doesn't help or hitting the brakes. Engine doesn't even seem to idle rough or stall. Acts like a fly by wire throttle problem when the throttle sensor under the pedal starts going bad but this is a throttle cable direct linkage so I know the butterfly valve is opening just ecm doesn't seem to know it.

I have also checked the fuel pressure at the rail and that is what it is supposed to be. I am just new to the acura / honda cars, never changed more than oil and brakes on them and was just wondering if there is something else that could cause this that I am missing. I have extensive experience fixing domestic vehicles but just wondering if there is some trick here that I don't know about kind of like the code for the radio after disconnecting the battery.

Do you have an OBD scan tool that can show live TPS sensor position?

I and a few other members have had the same intermittent problem but we haven't found a definitive cause. TPS sensor would be a logical starting point.

In my case, I have the same issue but only when starting out of the driveway with a cold engine at low speed and it only lasts for a second or two then it's fine. It's intermittent and has caused no other drive ability issues so I've not pursued it.

Your situation seems to warrant a definitive fix. Maybe some other members will chime in.

Which scan tool do you have?

Was intermittent but getting to be every time we drive it now. It's not a big deal around town but it is on the highway. Going to clean throttle body and see if that helps. I am thinking it could be MAP sensor giving a bad reading and the ECM cutting the fuel .
