Electrical issue

My 03 TL has had chronic issues with the dash lights, specifically the odometer and clock are out, then a couple of days ago the TCS and Engine lights cme on intermittently. Yesterday, I had the battery replaced as it was dead, today the new battery is dead, the dome light will not even come on, has anyone had this problem.

Sounds like a short or a drain... what have you installed? Alarms, stereo, lighting?
was the car ever crashed and repaired?

Just checked the new battery with a meter, it is fully charged. The battery and main fuses seem to be OK as well, but still zero power to anything, not even the door locks.

Check the ground. Check the voltage at the main fuse block under hood. Are you getting 12v there?

Are both ends of the batt. cables clean and tight? What do you mean the fuses seem to be ok? Did you check for continuity?

I had a similar problem man, took it to the shop a week ago and he is sayin there was a short near the taillights. I am going to need the wiring harness from the small lights fuse back to the taillights, (melted wires..... not good). My dash lights went out, couldn't roll my windows down unless my lights were on. real messed up, but at least he found the problem. so check around your tail lights, thats where my problem lied.

Just an update. The main and battery fuses did show continuity, but was still having the same problem. After removing the battery fuse to test again, realized it had a hairline fracture and did not show continuity all the time, not burned out, but apparently just cracked. Replacement fixed the problem. The bad news is that after that the A/C fan runs full blast all the time with no control, but the compressor won't kick in and cool the car. I replaced the heater motor transistor switch (the a/c shop said it was the motor and wanted $400 to replace, i removed the motor and tested it myself it ran fine, the switch was about $42 and took 10 min. to put in) earlier this summer when the entire a/c system quit, fan, compressor etc... and that fixed that problem, i don't know where to start with this new problem, if it is related or just a coincidence.
