Door Panels (garnish)

I'm sure you guys get this question all of the time. My 2000 TL is peeling on the side door panels (the outside black ones). The dealer refers to this as the "garnish". Any idea of somewhere to get these besides the dealer for $68 a pop? Thanks!

Same with my 2002

I guess this is common. So far mine just looks like there is some discoloration on those panels, but not actually peeling.

Funny you should mention this. I had the same problem just a week ago.
I immediately took it to my dealer (Frankel Acura in Timonium, MD), spoke with our service guy. My TL is JUST over the mileage warranty and over the time warranty by literally a day. He replaced the rear "garnishes" for free (parts and labor). I believe they were $75 a piece. Unfortunately, the fronts are barely hinting that they are about to peel.

It doesn't look like you're in the same position as I was, so I would go ahead and repaint them yourself or find a painter friend to do it for some drinks.

Like stated earlier, take them off, sand them and paint them. Many members have done that and it turns out great

I wish I had the time to paint them and let them dry overnight, etc...I only have to replace one anyways.

Thank you for all of the help. With the other new ones priced higher than the current ones, I will attempt to paint them myself. What type of paint are you guys using?
