Does your center console, cup holder get warm?

After I drive for awhile, my cup holder area and center console closer to the seatbelt clip gets warm. Is that abnormal? signs of a bad tranny?

when you have heat on its gets hot. when you have air on it gets cold. im pretty sure the ducts for the rear vent runs right under it.

the ducts dont run under but beside the console, leave your heat on 90 for a while then feel inside the console. or when you have had you heater or a/c on for a while stick you hand between the seat and console you can feel it

The ducts for the rear seat HVAC runs underneath the center console. That's one factor.

Otherwise, it's usually the heat generated from the engine/transmission. On less insulated vehicles, if you run without the shifter boot (if it's a stick), dirt and stuff can actually get into the cabin. So yeah, on a hot day with a hot engine, you'll probably feel some heat there from it.

Mine gets cold with the A/C on and hot with the heat on. Keeps water cold in the summer and coffee hot in the winter.

What if you wanted a cold beer for the road in the winter? Then you would be SOL.
