DIY Timing belt question.

My Benz mechanic looked at my TL and said I might as well replace the motor mount cause he thinks the mount has to be removed anyways. Is that true that the mount has to come off anyways? Also do I need any special tools? I watched a video for a 3.5 Odyssy and guy used a crankshaft pully bolt holder. I've already downloaded the service manual and have done a timing belt on my old toyota celica. But that was years ago and it was not hard but takes time. How long and difficult would you guys say it is for this TL? Thanks!

Yes, the side mount needs to come off, and odds are its shot anyways. You dont need that tool but it helps. You can also use the starter method. As for how long, depends on how good you are with tools. Its not difficult, just a little tedious due to the tight quarters.
