D5 flashing need help

As I was driving, the D5 on shift selector started to flash. so I pull in to the nearest parking lot,put it in park and D5 still flashes. Then I turn off the car and waited for a few minutes. I then started up the car,D5 wasn't flashing, and proceeded on driving. Ten minutes later D5 started to flash again. I stopped to checked the owner's manual,it indicated a possible transmission problem. The TL seem to be running fine. No signs of mechanical malfunction as of now. I have an 02 TL-S with 86,000 miles. Had the oil jet installed due to the recall two yrs ago. I had the Honda dealer flush n fill the transmission fluid in june 08. Could it really be a transmission problem or electrical malfunction? If it is a transmission problem. Will I need a whole new tranny and how much? what are my options? Any info or help is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!!

not sure , but I believe the flashing D5 is the first sign that the trans is getting ready to go.

you probably need a new tranny, sorry. take it to the dealer and see what your options are--you might have some time left under the extended warranty, in which case the tranny will be replaced for free.

Get the code read. Flashing D5 means MANY things. Most common are a trans thats about to fail or most other common is a ATF sensor malfunction
