I have an interesting problem on my car. Sometimes when I go to set cruise control it wont work. The green light will come on the main switch and then I go to push set and nothing will happen. Its like the set button is broken or something. Sometimes i push set the first time and it comes on "cruise control" and its fine and sometimes i have to push set a couple times.

I noticed this kind of happens in the rain or when its moist out. However, tonight I had to pick up my mom from the airport and it wouldnt work (got it to work the last 5 minutes of the trip) and its been days since it rained here. So any ideas whats going on? Also before you say search I did and while there are a lot of topics about cruise none of them have to do with this kind of problem all the cruise topics are when the cruise light is on but nothing happens. I dont have that problem if I can get my light on the car stays at the speed.

 

did you check the cable to the cruise control box? is the insulation maybe chipped and causing moisture/water to get in? that's only my

 

I would say its probably in the cruise motor assembly?

 

Yeah thanks im going to check that out and I found a diagram of but since it seems to be the set button that doesnt work im afraid its inside the wheel which i really dont want to take appart.

 

Woops i miss read it i thought you said the cruise light was coming on nut not activating. It could be many things. Its not hard to take apart. just rent a steering wheel puller. I have a PDF on how to take it apart for the volume control when it doesnt work. It may be similar? Other wise you could find the wires after it and test them

 

Yeah its ok appparently thats hte problem that everyone has the light comes on but nothing happens. If I can get my light on which I normally can it works great its just getting the light on so I will have to look into it. Thanks for the info too I will also see if the dealer will cover it before I try anything.

I just purchased a Burgundy 2003 Acura TL 3.2 today! I was driving to class (graduate student) and I couldn't engage the cruise control! I turned on the cruise control switch but I couldn't make the car maintain speed. After I arrived at school, I realized I was using the valet key. Does using the valet key disable the cruise control?

 

Thats a good question. I wouldn't think it would though

 

Anyone have an answer to this thread?? I'm having the same issues of the cruise control not working...and also my horn doesn't work now.
