Clicking noise behind engine on driver's side

This might be a very simple fix, but I'm having a hard time pin pointing the source of the clicking.

On my old eclipse, i had clicking from the rockers not getting oil from sludge

I don't think it's coming from the head though. I can hear the clicking when idling, and increases in frequency with higher rpms. I've tried putting a 3/8" extension up to the master cylinder, the steering rack, and water pump, but no clicking.

Thanks all.

It sounds like the purge control solenoid located just off to the side of the master cyl. They are known to be noisy. its like a 25-30 buck part at the dealer and you can change it out yourself in a few min. There isnt any thing wrong with it and nothing will happen if you dont change it.

Do you have a CAI??? My tls makes a clicking noise during idling at times and also at higher rpms during acceleration. My dad says it has something to do with the emission valve near the driver side? I am not sure though. Other ziners says its normal with the CAI and its not fixable, but theres no problem only annoying. hahah!!

soy - I don't have a cai just a removed resonator. (Some people said they didn't notice a humming noise when they removed their resonator, but I do. Just waiting until I find the time to change to another intake.)

I still haven't found the time to check the solenoid though.

I would use a mechanics stethascope- less than 10 bucks at parts stores- listen for the noise with it!!
My car has not had a purge sel fail- so I dont know exactly what it sounds like- only that other have found that to be the cause

I opened my hood the other day and selonoid was being more noisy than usual. It's different on different days.

They tend to be noisiest when the temp drops below 50
