Christmas tree in my gauge cluster...

So I was replacing some burnt out bulbs in the fog, cruise, sunrooof and dimmer switches with the autolumination PNP LEDs. As I turned the car on with everything plugged in, but switches not all the way in, I saw a spark from my cruise/vsa switch and my gauge cluster lit up like a Christmas tree. I got a flashing D5, CEL, VSA, !, ABS and the battery light won't light up anymore. Had no probs with the system before. What could be the problem? Thanks guys!

Got codes P1298, P0135, P0141, P1768 and P1399!!!!!!

Any takers? Ideas? Gonna get it checked out tm but now I can't do anythin for my b-day without my damn car. EFF!!!

Well for starters you shoundt do things like this with the power on. Things like this can happen.

That said you may have fried something (cluster, multiplex, ecu). Have you tried resetting your ECU to see what codes come back?

Power on as in key in II position? No it was not there when they were being installed. I turned the key to see if would work (plugged into cruise indicator) or if I would have to flip it around after installed and that's when I saw the spark. Tried resetting ECU but codes kept comin up, VSA stayed lit up, etc. Even tried disconnecting battery.

Went to the shop, took apart the LED and found wires had slack/poor soldering and wires came in contact with each other causing the short. Pulled up wiring diagram and led us to blown fuses that caused everything else to light up. Car's good now. No lights except for CEL but I'll just wait for it to clear itself.

Kris - I know you've pulled up wiring diagrams before..where do you find those?

From my manual, or threads that had them in it.

If it was just fuses and your CEL is still on pull the clock backup fuse again to get it to go out. If it comes back on there is still a problem. Why wait for it to clear itself (if it does)
