Check Engine and TCS light-code p1607
2000 acura TL
Real cold morning, check engine and TCS light came on. Car was sluggish and would not get up to speed and shifted rough. After car warm TCS light went off and car ran as normal with check engine light remaining. Car was just serviced for same code and random misfire so they replaced the EGR and cleaned all ports. Did the same thing prior to the service but they could not determine what triggered the p1607 code and sent me home thinking it might have been an old code stored long ago....doesn't look like it now! Is the Power Train module bad? There are no other codes coming up. Tranny was replaced by acura at 80k, vehicle has 114k and is babied...Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Thanks, I was thinking that the pcm is easily replaceable but am wondering what the TCS (traction control) may have to do with it-would the TCS trigger the PCM to fail or would a bad PCM send or trigger something to cause the TCS to act up? I want to avoid replacing one only to find out if its the other!

Who worked on the car? Who checked the codes? long stored code -what kind of story is that???
Normally the egr is not a problem, just the intake manifold is removed and the ports all cleaned.
The warning lights can mean so many things- its not worth guessing
Since you had a trans replacement- get back to acura and let them look at it
If its trans prob they will do some `Goodwill warranty` for you
Dont ever believe that codes are a diagnosis- they are merely clues

random misfire is often 1 coil is bad- what cylinder did it say?
Were the spark plugs recently replaced?-
sometimes a coil gets banged or dropped and causes it to fail soon after- and give multiple cyl misfire codes

Hi I have the same code but the last owner said it was due to him deleting the cats also has dc headers. The car runs perfectly no stumbles noises or any other things besides the code to say something is wrong. Is it possible that due to the cats being gone it could throw this code?
