i have a 2000 acura TL , I've just bought and the check engine light is on. Im not sure how long its been on , however it is a steady light that comes on whenever the vehicle starts up . I have read it can be as minor as a gas gasket being closed tightly or a engine/transmission issue. Can you provide some insight along with an approximate cost of repairs ?

 

Get an OBD reader to read the code or if you're in a state that allows it (aka not California), go to an auto parts store and they usually can read it for you. Report back with code.
