Check engine light

Anyone know how to reset the check engine light? I think it's on because my girlfriend didn't tighten up the gas cap (I hope) and I just want to reset it and see if it comes back on before doing anything else

It's an 02 type s

Thanks in advance
Nick

passenger side fuse box, pull fuse 13 out, wait 10 seconds, put it back in, and you're good.

or you can simply disconnect the negative side on the battery, wait 10 seconds, and put it back on. this method resets everything.. (radio code, clock, ecu.. etc)

she didnt think the letters in a row making words--`tighten 3 clicks minimum`--- were important??
and you let her near the Tl ?!

CLOCK fuse (#13) method is preferred so you dont have to input the radio code etc

I dont know exactly how long to remove fuse--we generally say a minute to be sure.
the clock fuse is the `secret backup power` to the ecu,, so its like pulling the plug on the home computer,,forces a reset and ck all systems

it can take 2-3 days of driving cycles before the ecu sees there is not a leak in the gas system and shuts off the light on its own
